DOGS ARE AWESOME
Ask any dog owner and they’ll tell you. Because they are trainable and have a keen sense of sight, hearing, and smell, dogs are used in many fields. In my upcoming novel, HUNT FOR REDEMPTION, Banjo is a German shepherd and a former military dog. He lives with his owner, Dirk O’Connor, in backwoods country in the mountains of Virginia near the North Carolina border. Although retired from service, Banjo is still on the job. Once O’Connor warns someone what to do in the event bad guys show up on his land. He advises, “He’s your first line of defense,” meaning his loyal dog.
TRUST ME, HIS BITE IS WORSE THAN IS BARK
As you’ll see in the story, no one steps foot on the property without first dealing with Banjo. My main characters, Abby Jones and Tim Hunt, find out the hard way. O’Connor commands him to stand down in Dutch, the language Banjo learned in his training. Of course, Banjo is not all about guarding and scouting. He likes to have fun, too. He enjoys riding in O’Connor’s jeep and giving sloppy licks to pretty ladies.
AND FOR YOU CAT LOVERS:
Yes, there is a cat in the story named Daisy Mae. She plays an important role because she is the reason for a vital setting in the book where lives are at stake. Daisy Mae is a pivotal character in a nail biting scene, a showdown, and a love scene. Yep, you heard right, love.
AND THE WINNER IS….
Congratulations to Barbara Guthrie as the winner of the contest to name the dog in my novel. She has won a free signed copy and an acknowledgement credit in the book. Look for HUNT FOR REDEMPTION to come out in September.
